DEFINITION Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation employee responsible for planning, organizing and directing a department division, office, unit or program and/or performing technical or supervisory duties of comparable level as directed by the Warden. (( A Correctional Administrator is an OOC role that is granted to selected former members of the faction to assist with its development and improvement. Individuals applying for this role are not expected to have an active character or interact in-game with the faction on a daily basis, as their role is mostly limited to forum work. They are allowed, however, to have characters within the faction for the purpose of interacting with the faction and its members. )) |
TYPICAL TASKS As the administrative chief of a division, office, unit or program; organizes, directs, oversees, evaluates and operates said organizational units; supervises, trains and evaluates the work of employees assigned to said organizational units and, when appropriate, recommends action with respect to their work performance; resolves difficult administrative problems in planning and directing work of the staff; serves as a member of the department's command staff; as assigned, participates in and supervises developmental projects. As a general administrator, ensures assigned program areas are consistent with law, Department rules, policies, and procedures; assists with preparing rules and regulations; dictates correspondence and prepares reports; organizes, directs, and evaluates a statewide program of major significance; provides leadership, consults with and advises department administration and other interested individuals and groups in his/her specific areas of responsibility. |
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Two years of experience in the San Andreas Department of Corrections performing duties in a class comparable in level of responsibility to Correctional Lieutenant or higher (equivalent to college graduation may be substituted for one year of the required experience). (( Must be a former member of the San Andreas Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation who resigned at the rank of Lieutenant or above and is in good standing with the faction. )) |
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES Knowledge of: purposes, activities, regulations, and functions of the San Andreas Department of Corrections; modern principles and practices in correctional administration and criminology, including the principles and procedures of inmate classification, assignment, and transfer; principles of effective supervision; principles and applications of effective budget preparation and control, personnel management and supervision, public administration, and business management of a large organization in an institution setting. Ability to: plan, organize, direct, evaluate, and coordinate a large multidisciplinary program, apply effective principles of budget preparation and control, personnel management, business management, public administration, and correctional administration; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with officials and staff members, public agencies, and interested community and professional groups; analyze situations accurately and take effective action; supervise, train, and motivate staff to achieve maximum effectiveness; analyze data and adopt an effective course of action; deal with and resolve effectively emergency situations; communicate both verbally and in writing so instructions can be clearly understood and carried out in emergency situations; plan, organize, direct, and evaluate the work of employees; assess the training needs of employees; develop staff. SPECIAL PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS Demonstrated leadership and program planning ability; emotional maturity and stability; sympathetic and objective understanding of persons in custody; satisfactory record as a law-abiding citizen; tact, good personal and social adjustment for correctional work; neat personal appearance; courage; alertness; willingness to work day, evening, or night shifts, weekends, and holidays, and to report for duty at any time emergencies arise. |
SPECIAL PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS Sound mental and emotional condition; freedom from any physical or mental condition that would interfere with the full performance of the essential functions of the job of a Correctional Officer. |
CITIZENSHIP REQUIREMENT Must be either a United States citizen or be a permanent resident alien who is eligible for and has applied for United States citizenship. ny permanent resident alien who is employed as a peace officer shall be disqualified from holding that position if their application for citizenship is denied. |
